Following the War of 1812, Fort Macon was built to protect Beaufort and Morehead City. The Fort allows walkthroughs and has awesome reenactments for crowds to watch!
Biking down front street is a great way to spend the evening, and easy way to avoid busy parking. There are plenty of places to park your bikes downtown for shopping!

Located at Pine Knoll Shores, the NC Aquarium has interactive hands-on exhibits as well as self-guided tours. Personally, one of our favorite ways to spend a rainy day! (Due to COVID tickets are required)
Looking for a thrill? Skydiving over the outer banks gives the unique perspective of the shoals and sandbars from the sky! Not wanting to jump out of a plane? The Beaufort Airport also gives aerial tours in Cessna airplanes!
Drive Kubota four-wheelers all around the Cape Lookout National Seashore at your own pace! A great way to find secluded areas of the beach while still carrying coolers and boogie boards!
Located 2 miles away from the property, the boardwalk is a great place to watch the sunset, listen to live music, or grab a bite to eat. It's always hopping when a fishing tournament is in town!
The Morehead waterfront is a short drive across the bridges and houses several shops, restaurants, and Big Rock Landing (where fishing tournament weigh-ins take place)
Another great way to see Beaufort is on a golf cart! The whole waterfront is 3 miles long with blocks of historic houses, large boats, and beautiful live oak trees.
